Description
This course introduces candidates to the fundamentals of teaching students with disabilities from birth through grade 12. An overview of theoretical and legislative foundations of special education will be addressed. Throughout the course, the special education process, disability categories, prevalence, and evidence-based strategies will be discussed across varying levels of need. Candidates will also learn effective and meaningful approaches for inclusion of students with diverse learning needs along with the significance of collaboration of special education professionals across the school environment. Fifteen hours of fieldwork required.
