Foundations of Literacy Instruction in Early Childhood and Childhood Education

Description

This course introduces the foundations of literacy instruction as it explores theories and applications of traditional and new literacies. The course will examine teaching approaches to develop the areas of literacy- phonemic awareness, phonics, word recognition, spelling and comprehension and discusses other issues of literacy including family literacy and new literacies. Ten hours of fieldwork required.
