Criminalistics II

Description
This class continues the exploration of how Forensic science plays a role in criminal investigations. It expands on the topics discussed in CRJU 383, examining in depth, disciplines not previously covered. Advances such as mobile forensics in each discipline will be examined as well as the how these technologies are currently being applied in criminal investigations. The use (and misuse) of computer technologies such as Genealogical DNA, fingerprint and facial characteristic databases will also be discussed. Efforts to standardize testing through accreditation of laboratories and the certification of professionals in the field will be examined.
