Course Description
An examination of ethical questions that arise in health care and in the relationship between health care professionals and those they serve, including: the rights of individuals to self-determination and the obligations of health care professionals both to the individuals they serve and to society at large; life as a value and such issues as abortion, euthanasia, and suicide; the questions of mental health and mental illness and the right of the mentally ill; eugenic programs and the possibilities of genetic engineering; the cost of health care and the delivery of health care as a social and political issue.
