Course Description

This course explores the connection between rhetoric and identity, which is fundamental to understanding diverse forms of communicative practices. Students learn about contemporary frameworks of rhetoric, including the interdisciplinary areas of critical race theory and ethnic studies; gender studies; and disability studies, and how historically marginalized peoples use their own rhetorics. In order to study these topics, students read a range of material, including visual and audio media and scholarly work on cultural rhetorics.
